The ZH4000 is the latest in a series of Nippei Toyama Corporation (NTC) Horizontal Machining Centers. It is suitable for high speed machining of Die Cast Aluminum parts, as well as near net shape, or precision steel castings for the automobile industry, office automation, medical, optical and aircraft industries. It utilizes a three axis traveling column with a fixed table that allows the machine to be used as a stand-alone universal machine, or in flexible transfer lines. As a stand-alone machine it has a 180-degree rotary type-high speed APC equipped with a 90-degree 4th axis NC turntable at the loading pallet. In accordance with the high speed and high productivity features, a hydraulic source can be easily provided for each pallet, for quick connection to hydraulic fixtures. To assist high speed machining, coolant through the spindle is provided as a standard feature.
The ZH4000 uses X, Y and Z axes traveling column design which eliminates slide way "stack-up" inaccuracies. Linear guides on the X, Y and Z axes eliminate maintenance and adjustments found on other machines. Each machine way (X, Y, Z) is individually covered to reduce all contamination of guide ways. The ball screws are cooled. Computer designed castings and triangular construction, minimize component overhangs and provide maximum rigidity. This extremely rigid structure provides positioning accuracy of + 0.0002" and repeatability of + 0.00012" . Actual measuring inspection data will be submitted with machine. With a flange trough construction, chips fall directory beneath the spindle and are quickly moved outside the machining area by bed flushing coolant. The coolant system is external to the machine base to remove any thermal influence and allow easy access to the coolant reservoir for cleaning and maintenance. The reservoir has a large gallon capacity.
