Air Chucks and Indexing Chucks

Marathon Machine Tools has vast experience in installation of SMW-Autoblok air chucks, indexing chucks and hydraulic chucking systems. Our chucks are widely used in pipe threading operations and in machining different sizes of tees and crosses for the oilfield industry.

BIG BORE®
INCH serration		 Front-end pneumatic power chucks with extra large through-hole Ø 5.51” – 22” • standard jaw stroke • 3 jaws

Application/Customer’s benefit

End machining of long tubes with high clamping force at very short clamping cycles

Complete machine spindle bore can be used

Technical features

  • Power chuck with built-in pneumatic cylinder. Force transmission via wedge hook.
  • Air feed via distributor ring and SMW-profile seals, at stopped spindle.
  • A twin non-return valve in the chuck maintains the air pressure during machining.
  • Clamping pressure level constantly checked by a safety control system (only for external clamping

Application/customer’s benefit

End machining of long tubes with collars at high clamping force and very short clamping cycles, thanks to the rapid and the clamping stroke

Complete machine spindle bore can be used.

For outside clamping only.

  • Power chuck with built-in pneumatic cylinder.
  • Force transmission via wedge hook with 2 inclinations (for rapid and clamping stroke).
  • Air feed via distributor ring and SMW-profile seals, at stopped spindle.

Application / Customer’s benefit

End machining of straight or bent tubes.

Tubes can be clamped selfcentering or with radial jaw compensation at bent tubes, using a centering chuck.

No reduction of spindle bore due to selfcontained chuck design.
